Overview of the Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology, established in 2018 (2011 E.C.), is one of six departments within the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences at Bule Hora University’s Guji Girja Campus in Ethiopia. The department aims to address the needs of governmental, non-governmental, and private organizations by training professionals who can effectively apply psychological principles and conduct high-quality research on social, educational, and psychological issues. Currently, the department offers a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology as a regular program and a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology available in both regular and weekend formats. The department is staffed by a diverse team of qualified academicians, including 1 PhD candidate, 12 MA holders, and 8 BA degree holders, who are committed to providing essential services such as counseling for university students and community members, training for various groups, and mental health support for youth.

Objectives
  • General Objectives: To produce trained psychologists, conduct research on psychological, educational, and social issues, and provide community services.
  • Specific Objectives: To expand postgraduate programs, facilitate student engagement in extracurricular activities, organize psychology exhibitions, develop a vibrant faculty, and enhance partnerships with foreign universities for research grants and fellowships.
