College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Bule Hora University
The College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) is one of the academic units of Bule Hora university. The college is offering diverse programs aimed at developing a deep understanding of human societies, cultures, and behaviors. Currently houses 17 departments. These are Afaan Oromo and Literature, Civics and Ethical Studies, English Language and Literature, Gadaa and Oromo History Studies, Geography and Environmental Studies, Governance and Development Studies, History and Heritage Management, Journalism and Communication, Oromo Folklore and Literature, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations, Social Anthropology, Social Work, Social Work, Tourism Management, Music and Theatrical Arts.  In the College of Social Sciences and Humanities there are 16 MA programs both in regular and weekend modalities. The college also opened two PhD programs.
As of 2024/2016, the College hosted male 2066, female 667, total 2733 (undergraduate (BA) students, male 258, female 34, total 292 postgraduate (MA) students, and male 22, female 2, total 24 (PhD) students across its programs. The College operates under multiple modalities, including regular, weekend, and summer programs has been teaching a total of 3049 students. In the year 2016/2024, 2012 BA and 51 Masters and 1 PhD degree students were graduated.
The College is supported by a dedicated academic staff comprising 139 lecturers, 21 assistant professors, 4 Associate professors, and 19 staff members holding BA and MA degrees who are continuing to develop their academic qualifications. Of these, 43 are study leave staffs, and 142 are active staffs. The teaching staff is actively involved in both teaching and research, contributing to the academic growth.
The College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Bule Hora University is supported by a committed team of 13 female and 7 male, total 20 administrative staff who play a vital role in the smooth functioning of the College.
