Bule Hora University started to integrate ICT in its system through the establishment of the ICT Unit to handle issues related to ICT. Since its establishment, the ICT Unit has been working closely with different sections of the university.
For a long time, the major task of the ICT Unit had been providing internet service for staffs and creating conducive environment for ICT related courses through the provision of computer Labs and relevant software and hardware supports. However, with the new structure sent by MoE, ICT was reestablished as a directorate and, recently the involvement of ICT in course offerings is significantly reduced since most of the departments have established their own computer laboratories. The other areas in which the ICT Directorate involved would include: providing short-term trainings to the community in IT Essentials and Basic Computer Skills under the newly hosted CISCO Networking Academy.
Besides these activities, The Directorate also provides specifications for purchasing orders of ICT equipment, troubleshooting, maintenances and technical support services on computers, office machines and related devices. Recently, the main focuses of the ICT Directorate is building campus-wide network of the university in collaboration with Jimma University. From the conception to the implementation of the network infrastructures, The Office will enthusiastically involve in every activity.
In general,The ICT Directorate is working to enhance and expand ICT infrastructure and services to enable transformationof the university’s in line with the strategic plan.
Develop progressive ICT infrastructure to provide high quality services for academic, research and administrative tasks.
Transform BuleHora University in to eUniversity in which all the systems are automated and totally ICT dependent.
